Gestalt on Grid
Gestalt on grid by Rafid Khan

This type is proximity because this type is representing the letter N. I created this type of proximity because that's the letter I have thought/planned on creating with. I created this type of proximity by fully adding the entire type box in the first column and I also fully added the entire type box in the fourth column as well. And then I added one type box in the second column in the second row. Also I did the same thing by adding the type box in the third column in the third row. Overall this lead to representing an image or should I say a letter of N
This type represents a similarity because the type in the two columns is being used and repeated in the 3rd and 4th column. However, although the column in the 3rd and 4th column is being repeated from 1st and 2nd column but the 3rd and the 4th column is being reflected horzontily. Some may argue that the type is a symmetry because of how both column 1/2 is same to column 3/4. I argue that this is similarity because of how there is only reflection going on. Like the 3rd and the 4th column is being reflected from the first and second column. Cuz if there was "translation" then it would've been considered as a symmetry. In which the 1st column would've been repeated to the 3rd column and the second column would've been repeated to the fourth column without being reflected at all.

This type represents closure because although it is representing as a checker however it representing a square/rectangle. You may see this closure in various ways depending on the way you possibly see it. You may see multiple square with equal sizes forming together as a whole square. Or you may view squares of different sizes forming together into a whole square. In addition, we can move the square into the empty spaces which can form into a rectangle. In conclusion, this type closure can be mentally viewed in many ways depend on the way you see it.

This type is figure ground because it represents a telephone. It may look like a capital C but it's not however. This is the type of telephone that was used in the 1900 or so. It's more like an old, classic and possibly an ancient type of telephone. Anyways I created this type by add fully adding the type in the first column. Then in the second column I added the type in the first row and then adding the type again in the fourth row as well. When I did that I create an image of a telephone with type.
This type is continuation because of how the type box is diagonally continuing from one corner to the another corner. When that happens it leads to making an arrow. This should've represent a figure but I decided to make it a continuation because of how the tail of the arrow is making a continuation by continuing to the front of the arrow. So I created this type by adding one type box in the first column in the first row. Second I added a type box in the second column in the second row plus in the fourth row. Then I add a type box in the third column in the third and fourth row. Last I added 3 type box in the fourth column in the second, third and fourth.

I like how originized this is. However the grid looks like it goes on forever, there is no outline so it looks like the grid size is never ending. I like how each grid id thrirly explained in detail, i can see that this person put their heart and soul into making all these grids and writing about it. I like how all the grids are different, all of them have different ideas but it fits in the gsalt category. Over all all the grids and explantion combined i would give this a 8/10 overall.
ReplyDeleteThe design I least like is the proximity design because it somewhat does not show proximity. Although some of the grids are spaced far apart some are just together. A design I like is continuation design. The reason is because the design not only shows continuity with the text but it creates a arrow design showing where it continues.
ReplyDeleteThis was a very organized and well thought out. I especially love the similarity one because of how reflected it looks. the continuation one seems also well thought out. better than what i had anyway. Overall great pieces. Im feeling a strong 8 to a light 9. Great work
ReplyDeleteI really like how you used alignment to make the similarity and having the gaps look so similar is interesting, sort of like the gaps are reflecting each other. Overall, I really liked how organized your blog is and how all designs meet all the requirements.
ReplyDeleteMy least favorite is closure because I have been seeing a lot of it. My most favorite is continuation because it kind of looks like a pickaxe, but I am confused on how it's suppose to be continuation, I think it should be Figure-Ground. He wrote a lot and described very well. 9.9/10.
